StopTrik Festival is part of the NGO Film Festival Initiative, which has been connecting for 5 years and striving for better conditions for film festivals produced by NGOs. At the 24th Slovenian Film Festival in Portorož, the initiative presented itself to the public and set out the conditions and challenges that characterize the organization of film festivals in Slovenia and the vision of the NGO Film Festival Initiative for the future. One of the central goals of the initiative is to establish a constructive and continuous dialogue with decision-makers. Namely, we are facing unsustainable financing, cuts in funds, changes in the competent authorities and open-call holders, and the extreme precariousness of the sector.

The initiative of non-governmental film festivals was formed by representatives of domestic international festivals at the end of 2016 and today has 12 members. The purpose of the Initiative is to professionally connect active organizers from all over Slovenia, analyze the current situation in film festivals in Slovenia, identify operational issues, dialogue with decision-makers and strive to improve the conditions for creating and organizing film festivals and creating a common vision for the future.
