AD-HOC LAB. Criss-Cross Collage with Miha Reja
Thursday and Friday, 24. and 25. 9. 2026 between 16.00 and 19.00, Vetrinj mansion, Outdoor
Are you interested in collage animation but haven't had the chance to try it out yet? Has animation been on your to-do list for a long time, but you never quite get around to it? No worries - for Ad Hoc Lab, you don't need any prior knowledge, a perfect idea, or a strict plan. All it takes is curiosity, a bit of imagination, and a willingness to experiment.
In this two-day workshop, we will explore the basics of stop-motion animation using paper, collage, and all those printed materials that might have been waiting a long time for their five minutes of fame. Old magazines, picture books, newspapers, papers, and other forgotten printed treasures will be provided. You can spice things up by bringing your own materials, too - if you have a pile of old magazines and newspapers gathering dust at home, this might be a sign that their time has come.
Join us for two afternoons of technically simple stop-motion animation, created with whatever we have at our disposal. In the first part of the workshop, we will focus on getting familiar with the stop-motion animation technique. We will introduce some fundamental principles of animation and showcase fun examples of its application. We will browse through the printed materials, cut out various images, and brainstorm creative ideas. The second day will be dedicated to shooting, with an emphasis on experimentation - no stress and no over-planning. We will breathe new life into old, forgotten scraps of paper, turning them into your very own animated film.
Places are limited. Applications are being accepted at mojca@filmfactory.si
