Cristóbal León and Joaquín Cociña
both born in 1980 in Chile, form the artistic duo León & Cociña. They have collaborated since 2007, creating animated films, installations, paintings, and sculptures, among other works. Both studied at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. León also studied at UDK-Berlin and De Ateliers in Amsterdam. Their films combine techniques such as photography, drawing, sculpture, and performance. León & Cociña have received numerous awards, and their films are regularly selected for international film festivals. Their work has been exhibited in major museums and biennials, including Whitechapel Gallery, Guggenheim New York, KW Berlin, the Venice Biennale, and Art Basel. In 2018, they premiered their first feature film The Wolf House (La Casa Lobo) at the 68th Berlinale, where it received the Caligari Award. Their second feature, Los Hiperbóreos (2024), premiered at the Directors' Fortnight (Quinzaine des Cinéastes) in Cannes. Their third feature, The Plague, is currently in post-production. They live and work in Santiago, Chile.
