13th StopTrik IFF: Reprise in Łódź (8.-10.12.2023)

Once again StopTrik Official Selection will be presented in Łódź (Poland) in the atmospheric cinema of Lodz Film School. The wonderful 2023 selection of the Stop Motion Competition, Borderlands Competition, Panorama, and Stop Motion for Children will be joyfully viewed and carefully valuated by the Lodz audience and the Student Jury (Hanna Tkachova, Joanna Kosińska-Wajcht, Mikołaj Pietrzykowski).

The characteristic feature of the StopTrik Reprise in Łódź is defined by its turn towards tight cooperation with academics from the fields of animation, film, and culture studies. The scholars from the Łódź-based Polish Animation Research Group (GBPA) will present their most recent findings which encompass comparative studies in Polish and Czechoslovak production mechanisms and structures. The 75th anniversary of the Film School in Lodz will be celebrated with the curated film programme of one of the school’s pedagogues, Prof. Aleksandra Chrapowicka. StopTrik Lodz will also pay special homage to Marcin Giżycki (1951-2022) - his films will be presented in the commemorative retrospective “Animated Excerpts” while his academic achievements (among them, Giżycki’s final publication, “Cinema of the Artists. From Mélies to Maciunas”, 2023) will be discussed in detail by his student, colleague, and a friend, Adam Trwoga.

On Sunday we welcome all the stop motion enthusiasts to the Trik Show session where attending artists and Łódź-based professionals will be giving insightful views into the process and production of stop motion art-house for all kinds of viewers.
