The competition was conceived by Stripburger together with the Vivacomix association from Pordenone, Italy, and last year Animateka International Animation Festival joined them in organising the competition. The project aims to promote comic creativity and animation, reading and general visual education, and above all to popularise comics and animation among younger audiences.

This year, the competition attracted 418 comics works by 329 pupils and 127 students from all over Slovenia, 35 primary schools, 9 secondary schools and 11 individuals. Over 150 primary and 31 secondary school students created 31 animated shorts.

The jury, which selected the main prize winners and (special) awards, was composed of: Timon Leder (author), Katerina Mirović (Stripburger), Andreja Goetz and Jelena Dragutinović (Elephant Association, Animateka International Animation Festival), Paola Bristot and Alessandro De Adeioannon (Vivacomix Association).

In selecting the winners, the jury took into account both the artistic execution and the story and their interaction. Reading through the comics, the jury came across a number of talents that it hopes to continue to meet in the years to come.
