7th StopTrik IFF Opens Soon in Maribor!
From 5th to 8th October we are celebrating the aesthetic and geographical variety of stop motion techniques! Do not miss your chance to participate in this unique animation fiesta because this year we have it all: most intriguing contemporary films, historical programmes, special retrospectives, talks, lectures, parties, professional and aspiring filmmakers coming from all around the world to Maribor to collectively admire, discover, discuss and enjoy stop motion animation!
The International Stop Motion Competition (for traditional stop motion) and The Borderlands Competition (for experimental animation) feature 39 films from Europe, North and South America, Australia and Asia, while Panorama programme presents 13 titles from more than 10 countries. Dear Maribor Audience - remember that the festival Grand Prix is all in your hands!
Proudly we present several special programmes dedicated to Latin American Stop Motion Animation traditions, industry and independent production. You can watch two-part Latin American Stop Motion Retrospective: the Inside Perspective is outlined by the Moebius Collective (www.moebiusanimacion.com), while the Outer Perspective presents point of view of the European experts. Filmmakers and experts coming to Maribor from Brazil, Mexico and Colombia will explain the conditions and specificities of animation scenes in their countries. Caution, you may also be shocked and terrified to discover that animation is not only children genre: you can get this sensations on Saturday night during the Mexican Midnight Movies .
All the creative and ambitious filmmakers and writers are welcome to join practical animation workshops with Colombian artist, Laura Victoria Delgado , and Festival Journalism Workshops with acclaimed American writer, Nancy Denney-Phelps.
Festival events take place at the greatest Maribor venues: Salon uporabnih umetnosti, GT22 and Wetrinsky.
