StopTrik International Film Festival is dedicated to stop motion techniques of hand-made, spatial animation as puppet film, claymation, object or photography manipulation, animation of loose materials (such as salt, sand etc), pixilation, traditional cut-out and many more. The list of sub-genres could be complemented with such exceptional techniques as animation of lights, fire, yarns, threads. Artists' imagination is limitless and so we can be neither orthodox nor strict while defining the term "stop motion". The ultimate goal of this unique annual gathering is to admire and celebrate artistry of hand-made, spatial animation together with all the other drifters of the surreal, absurd or merry highways who are ready to pursue frame by frame illusion.

Sarah Van den Boom

She was trained at the ESAG Penninghen and then in the animation workshop of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. She then worked as an animator, animation assistant and character designer. She also directed ads for ACME FILMWORKS in Los Angeles and worked with the NFB in Montreal. In 2006 she participated in the creation of the production company PAPY3D. Raymonde Or The Vertical Escape is her fourth film and the first that's mainly in volume with puppet animation.

Sarah Van den Boom se je šolala na ESAG Penninghen, nato pa v animacijski delavnici na pariški Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. Zatem je delala kot animatorka, asistentka animacije in oblikovalka likov. Režirala je tudi oglase za ACME FILMWORKS v Los Angelesu in delala za NFB v Montrealu. Leta 2006 je sodelovala pri ustanovitvi produkcijskega družbe PAPY3D. 'Raymonde ali vertikalni pobeg' je njen četrti film in prvi, ki je večinoma posnet z animacijo lutk.

Anna Mantzaris

Anna Mantzaris is a Swedish Animation Director based in London. Her work is often character driven and she loves to mix humour and melancholy. Her short films has won over 50 international awards, including European Animation Award, Vimeo Best of the Year and Walt Disney and Audience award at Ottawa International Animation Festival. Anna is represented by Passion Animation Studios, where she directs different types of commissions, including a Christmas advert for Greenpeace. Anna has an as an MA in Animation at the Royal College of Art and recently worked on Wes Anderson’s Isle of Dogs.

Anna Mantzaris je švedska režiserka animacij s sedežem v Londonu. Njeno delo pogosto temelji na likih in njihovih karakterjih, pri tam pa rada meša humor in melanholijo. Njeni kratki filmi so prejeli več kot 50 mednarodnih nagrad, med njimi European Animation Award, Vimeo Best of the Year ter Walt Disney nagrado in nagrado občinstva na Ottawa International Animation Festival. Zastopa jo Passion Animation Studios, kjer režira po naročilu (mdr. božični oglas za Greenpeace). Anna ima magisterij iz animacije, ki ga je pridobila na Kraljevi akademiji za umetnost, nedavno pa je sodelovala pri snemanju filma 'Isle of Dog', ki ga je režiral Wes Anderson.

"What would you be willing to do for them to love you?". It is a dance metaphor about the roles we play and the shapes we take, about the stages we chose, the audience we try to impress and the price of acceptance.

"Kaj vse smo pripravljeni storiti, da bi bili ljubljeni?" Film je plesna metafora o vlogah, ki jih igramo, o oblikah, ki jih prevzemamo, o odrih, ki jih izberemo, o občinstvih, na katere skušamo narediti vtis ter o ceni sprejetosti.

Veronica Solomon

Born in Romania, currently living in Berlin, Germany. Owning a degree in Fine Arts, she began a self-training process to become an animator alongside doing comics and illustration. Nonetheless in 2017 she graduated from the Filmuniversity Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF with a BA in Animation.

Rojena je bila v Romuniji, trenutno pa živi v Berlinu. Po diplomi iz likovne umetnosti je začela s samoizobraževanjem za animatorko, hkrati pa je ustvarjala stripe in ilustracije. Leta 2017 je diplomirala iz animacije na Filmski univerzi KONRAD WOLF v Babelsbergu.

From the director's statement: I made the film with a hand-held camera feel, big close-ups, low depth of field and a lot of motion, lending it an authentic immediacy and a para-documentary nature. To show the characters’ emotions with facial expressions, I paint the eyes directly on the puppets’ faces, giving them a lot of life and an intense expression of the characters’ emotions.

Iz izjave režiserke: „Film, ki sem ga posnela, zaznamujejo občutek, da je posnet z ročno kamero, veliki bližnji posnetki, nizka globinska ostrina ter veliko gibanja, kar mu daje avtentično neposrednost in para-dokumentarno naravo. Da bi čustva likov prikazala z izrazi obrazov, sem oči naslikala neposredno na obraze lutk, zaradi česar delujejo zelo živo in intenzivno izražajo čustva likov.”


Daria Kashcheeva studies animated film at FAMU in Prague. Her student films featured at many international festivals. Daria’s original To Accept won the Nespresso Talents 2017  film competition in Cannes. In Daughter, her Bachelor’s puppet animation, Daria experiments with camera motion and explores the topic of father-daughter relationship. The project was pitched within the CEE Animation Forum 2018. The film has a premiere at Annecy Animation Film Festival and got Cristal for the best Student film and Young Jury award in Student film section. Daughter has been nominated for the Student Academy Award in the category Animation (International Film Schools).

Daria Kashcheeva študira animirani film na FAMU v Pragi. Njeni študentski filmi so bili prikazani na številnih mednarodnih festivalih. Njen film 'To Accept' je zmagal na filmskem tekmovanju Nespresso Talents 2017 v Cannesu. V svojem diplomskem filmu ‘Hči’ Daria eksperimentira z gibanjem kamere in raziskuje odnos med očetom in hčerko. Projekt je bil predstavljen na CEE Animation Forum 2018, film pa je premiero doživel na Festivalu animiranega filma Annecy, kjer je prejel nagrado za najboljši študentski film ter nagrado mlade žirije v sekciji Študentski film. Film je bil nominiran tudi za študentsko nagrado Akademije, in sicer v kategoriji Animacija (mednarodne filmske šole).

A professional diver undergoes an intense training regime punctuated by relentless blasts on her trainer's whistle. Utterly exhausted, she refuses to dive again and decides to visit a masseur.

Poklicna skakakla v vodo je podvržena intenzivnemu režimu vadbe, ki ga prekinjajo le neusmiljeni žvižgi trenerjeve piščalke. Popolnoma izčrpana se ne želi več potapljati in se odloči za obisk maserja.

Iulia Voitova

Born in 1991 in Ukraine, Iulia Voitova studied Graphics and Animation at the Ural State Architecture and Arts Academy in Ekaterinburg in Russia. After graduation, she worked 2 years as an artist and animator. In 2018 she finished her studies at la Poudrière, where she directed Le nuage (one-minute film), Vrai pirate (shown on the French TV network Canal J), and La plongeuse, her graduation film (2018). After school she directed a short film “19, rue de Nevers” for “En sortant de L'école” - a collection of 13 shorts based on Jean Tardieu poetry co-produced by Tant Mieux Prod and France Télévisions.

Rojena leta 1991 v Ukrajini. Na Uralski državni akademiji za arhitekturo in umetnost v ruskem Ekatarinburgu je študirala grafiko in animacijo. Po diplomi je 2 leti delala kot umetnica in animatorka. Leta 2018 je zaključila študij na šoli La Poudrière, kjer je režirala ‘Le nuage’ (enominutni film), ‘Vrai pirate’ (ki ga je predvajala francoska TV mreža Canal J) in ‘La plongeuse’, njen diplomski film (2018). Po končanem šolanju je režirala kratki film '19, rue de Nevers' za “En sortant de L'école”, zbirko 13 kratkih filmov, posnetih po poeziji, ki jo je napisal Jean Tardieu (koprodukcija Tant Mieux Prod in France Télévisions).

A film about a young woman's connection with the life force of nature. She uses her talent for taxidermy to “restore” the animals to their natural habitat. However, the true search for the answers begins when she starts finding a roll of undeveloped film in each of the animals she treats. Her obsession drives her to seek the explanation of the connection she feels, haunting her dreams, as well as her waking moments.

Film o mladi ženski in njeni povezavi z življenjsko silo narave. Svoj talent za preparatorstvo uporablja za to, da živali ponovno 'vrne' v njihov naravni habitat. Resnično iskanje odgovorov pa se prične, ko v vsaki od živali, s katerimi dela, najde zvitek nerazvitega filma. Njena obsedenost jo žene k iskanju razlage za povezavo, ki jo čuti, ki jo preganja v sanjah, pa tudi v budnih trenutkih.

Od leta 2010 je kot izdelovalka modelov, animatorka in režiserka sodelovala pri številnih projektih stop animacije. Filmografija: Imbued Life (2019), Simulacra (2014), Crossed Sild (2010, diplomski film, so-režiserka: Lea Vidaković).

Thomas Johnson (1984) graduated Time Based Media from the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff and from New Media Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. Aside from making animated films, Thomas creates stop motion performance art works which have featured at numerous festivals. Filmography: Imbued Life (2019), Simulacra (2014).

Thomas Johnson (1984) je diplomant časovnih medijev (University of Wales Institute, Cardiff) in novih medijev (Akademija za likovno umetnost, Zagreb). Zraven animiranih filmov Thomas s tehniko stop animacije ustvarja tudi performanse, ki so bili predstavljeni na številnih festivalih. Filmografija: Imbued Life (2019), Simulacra (2014).

Bruno Collet

Born in 1965 in Saint-Brieuc, France, Bruno Collet got his Art Degree from The Fine Arts of Rennes in 1990. From 1993, he worked as a set designer on numerous productions in stop-motion before starting, in 2001, his career as an author-director.

Bruno Collet se je rodil leta 1965 v Saint-Brieuc v Franciji. V Rennesu je leta 1990 diplomiral iz likovne umetnosti in od leta 1993 kot scenograf sodeloval pri številnih produkcijah stop animacije, preden je leta 2001 začel svojo kariero kot avtor-režiser.
