StopTrik International Film Festival is dedicated to stop motion techniques of hand-made, spatial animation as puppet film, claymation, object or photography manipulation, animation of loose materials (such as salt, sand etc), pixilation, traditional cut-out and many more. The list of sub-genres could be complemented with such exceptional techniques as animation of lights, fire, yarns, threads. Artists' imagination is limitless and so we can be neither orthodox nor strict while defining the term "stop motion". The ultimate goal of this unique annual gathering is to admire and celebrate artistry of hand-made, spatial animation together with all the other drifters of the surreal, absurd or merry highways who are ready to pursue frame by frame illusion.

Nara Normande

Nara Normande was born in Guaxuma and later moved to Recife, where a new generation of Brazilian directors was about to emerge. In 2014, she co-directed with Tião a live action fiction, Sem Coração, that received the Illy Prize of best short film at the Director’s Fortnight. In 2018, her last film, Guaxuma, mixes several animation techniques all connected to sand. Guaxuma awarded at SXSW, Palm Springs, Hamptons, Cinequest, selected at TIFF, Annecy, LA Shorts.

Nara Normande se je rodila v Guaxumi  in se kasneje preselila v Recife, kjer je ravno nastajala nova generacija brazilskih režiserjev. Leta 2014 je posnela igrani film Sem Coração (so-režija: Tião), ki je prejel nagrado Illy za najboljši kratki film na Director’s Fortnight. Leta 2018 njen zadnji film, Guaxuma, kombinira več animacijskih tehnik, ki so vse povezane s peskom. Film je bil nagrajen na SXSW, Palm Springs, Hamptons, Cinequest ter v selekciji na TIFF, Annecy, LA Shorts.

Crackling sugar skies and sweet cookies dancing their ritual to tribal drums of purity. A celebration of femininity sparkling in the dark. As the production was aiming to avoid material and food waste all cookies were made out of trashed food and eaten in the end.

Prasketajoče nebo iz sladkorja in sladki piškoti, ki plešejo svoj obredni ples ob zvokih plemenskega bobna čistosti. Praznovanje ženstvenosti se iskri v temi. Ker se je ekipa pri produkciji želela izogniti potrati materialov in hrane, so vse piškote izdelali iz zavržene hrane in jih na koncu pojedli.

Geena Gasser

Graduated in summer 2019 from three years of Animation Studies at the Lucerne School of Applied Arts, Geena is mostly focusing on Stop Motion / Puppet animation as well as on experimental and mixed media animation techniques. Her main target is to have playful, but even though meaningful and openminded films, that contributes to environmental, politic and social issues. At the moment she is travelling around the world to gain new inspiration.

Poleti 2019 je zaključila triletni študij animacije na Šoli za uporabne umetnosti v Luzernu. Večinoma se osredotoča na stop animacijo in animacijo z lutkami, pa tudi na eksperimentalne tehnike animacije in animacijo z mešanimi mediji. Njen glavni cilj so igrivi, a še vedno pomenljivi in odprti filmi, ki prispevajo k okoljskim, političnim in družbenim vprašanjem.  Trenutno potuje po svetu, da bi pridobila novo inspiracijo.

At a contemporary art gallery, a janitor comes across an art-piece she mistakes for trash. She dumps it in a bag, and while she is leaving to throw it away, a visitor comes in and confuses her mop bucket left behind for a piece of art.

V galeriji sodobnih umetnosti čistilka naleti na umetniško delo, ki ga zamenja za smeti. Vrže ga v vrečo in nese v smetnjak. Medtem pa v galerijo pride obiskovalec, ki njeno metlo in vedro zamenja za umetniško delo.

A passenger dies on an airplane. While a flight attendant tries to bringt the man back to life, she deals with voiceless expectations of the other passengers. She‘s locked inside this airplane, her responsibilities and personal capabilities. Her only way out is short a mental withdrawal, before she‘s forced to confront herself with the reality of her job.

Potnik na letalu umre. Medtem ko ga stevardesa poskuša ponovno oživiti, se ukvarja še z neizrečenimi pričakovanji drugih potnikov. Ujetnica tega letala je, pa tudi lastnih odgovornosti in sposobnosti. Ne ostane ji drugega kot kratek duševni umik, preden se je prisiljena soočiti z realnostjo svojega dela.

Theresa Grysczok

Theresa Grysczok was born 1988 in Erfurt, Germany. Since 2010 she studied „Communication Design“ at the School of Arts and Design in Kassel, where she graduated in 2018. In 2015 she founded a filmmaker collective called „sticky frames“, together with six filmmakers. Their aim is to spread and showcase indipendant, animated shortfilms in Germany and worldwide.

Rodila se je leta 1988 v Erfurtu v Nemčiji. Od leta 2010 je študirala oblikovanje komunikacij na Šoli za umetnost in oblikovanje v Kasselu, ki jo je zaključila leta 2018. Leta 2015 je s šestimi drugimi filmskimi ustvarjalci ustanovila kolektiv „sticky frames“. Njihov cilj je širjenje in prikazovanje neodvisnih animiranih kratkih filmov v Nemčiji in po vsem svetu.

The Zagreb Film Festival has been observing for some time that there is a great chance that the City of Zagreb will not extend the contract for managing Cinema Europe. Of course, at the time of the ZFF, there was still partial optimism that the concession would still be extended and that the cinema would not be lost in the wake of winds from the Upper Town.

Zagrebški filmski festival je že nekaj časa slutil, da obstaja velika možnost, da mesto Zagreb ne bo podaljšalo pogodbe za upravljanje Kina Europa. Seveda so bili v času festivala še vedno delni optimisti, da se bo koncesija vendarle podaljšala in da kina ne bodo izgubili zaradi vetrov iz Gornjega grada.

Luka Vucić

Born on March 17, 1982. in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. He spent childhood in Zagreb, and he currently works there. He graduated from the School of Applied Arts and Design. After completing his studies, he studies the Design Study at the Archeology Faculty in Zagreb. In her 37 years of life she flirts with various types of art. He plays at the Children's Theater in Dubrava, with various films and advertisements. He is the author of the manifestation of the Night of the Theater. He works as an independent artist, in his own Studio Vucic, in which he has been producing, developing and designing illustrations, costumes for performances, scenography, chores, videos, logos, product design, animation and everything that comes in handy for him, and it's about creativity and art. The main area of interest is his stop animation, and for some time, the movie. Versatile, creative, playful words are the ones that best describe it.

Rojen 17. marca 1982 v Zagrebu, kjer je preživel svoje otroštvo, pa tudi zdaj dela tam. Končal je Šolo za uporabne umetnosti in oblikovanje, potem pa študiral oblikovanje na zagrebški Arhitektonski fakulteti. V 37 letih življenja se je spogledoval z različnimi vrstami umetnosti. Igra v Otroškem gledališču v Dubravi, z različnimi filmi in oglasi. Je avtor manifestacije Noč gledališča. Dela ko samostojni umetnik v svojem studiu (Studio Vucić), kjer producira, razvija in oblikuje ilustracije, kostume za predstave, scenografijo, video posnetke, logotipe, izdelke, animacije in vse drugo, kar mu pride prav; ustvarjalnost in umetnost sta mu najpomembnejši. Njegovo glavno interesno področje je stop animacija, že nekaj časa pa tudi film. Vsestranski, ustvarjalen in igriv so besede, ki ga najbolje opišejo.

Classic puppet- animated short film evolved through the period of two years, starting with gender ideology, feminism and the problem of understanding oneself, then turning into a more complex question of good vs evil, trying to define the fine line between what is humane, and what is natural.

Klasična kratka lutkovna animacija se je razvijala 2 leti; začela se je z ideologijo spola, feminizmom in problemom razumevanja sebe, kasneje pa se je usmerila h kompleksnejšemu vprašanju dobrega proti zlu in skušala določiti jasno mejo med humanim in naravnim.

Ivana Radić

born in 1992 in Pula. Lived and went to elementary school in Poreč, then went on to live and study in Pula where she finished art school for graphic design. After moving to Rijeka for a semester and studying history and philosophy at The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, she got accepted into Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb where she got her masters degree in animated film and new media in 2018. While studying in Zagreb, she participated in many different projects, mostly those revolving around 2D animation, stopmotion animation, graphic design and video-editing.

Rojena je bila leta 1992 v Pulju. Živela je v Poreču, kjer je obiskovala osnovno šolo, potem se je preselila in šolanje nadaljevala v Pulju, kjer je zaključila likovno šolo za grafično oblikovanje. Po selitvi v Reko in semestru študija zgodovine in filozofije na Fakulteti za humanistične in družbene vede je bila sprejeta na zagrebško Akademijo za likovne umetnosti, kjer je leta 2018 magistrirala iz animiranega filma in novih medijev. Med študijem v Zagrebu je sodelovala pri številnih različnih projektih, predvsem s področja 2D animacije, stop animacije, grafičnega oblikovanja in video montaže.

When Kim was 3, a chicken plague spread all over the word. To prevent the spread of the plague, the ruler gave the highest order to slaughter all the chickens. Every chicken in the village were killed except Kim. That is how Kim stepping on a road of revenge and saving the chicken noble.

Ko je imel Kim 3 leta, se je po svetu razširila piščančja kuga. Da bi širjenje kuge preprečili, je vladar ukazal, da je potrebno vse kokoši zaklati. Vsi piščanci v vasi so bili umorjeni, le Kim ne. Tako Kim stopi na pot maščevanja in reševanja piščančje časti.

Rojen je bil v Zhejiang Wenzhou leta 1981. Diplomiral je na znanstveno-tehnološki univerzi Zhejiang, smer animacija. Leta 2007 je ustanovil Studio Fantastic Sky. Osredotoča se na ustvarjanje izvirnih stop animacij. Posnel je številne kratke animirane filme in animirane serije.

Massimo Ottoni

Massimo Ottoni was born in Ascoli Piceno on 1984. After graduation in Literature, Music and Show Business at La Sapienza university of Rome he majored in animation at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Turin. In the following years he worked as a freelance making several animation shortmovies, commercials and commissioned films. He teaches animation and he's co-founder of Ibrido Studio.

Massimo Ottoni se je rodil v Ascoli Piceno leta 1984. Po diplomi iz literature, glasbe in šovbiznisa na rimski univerzi La Sapienza je študiral še animacijo na Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia v Torinu. Kasneje je delal kot samostojni ustvarjalec in posnel več kratkih animiranih filmov, reklam in filmov po naročilu. Poučuje animacijo in je soustanovitelj studia Ibrido.

Robin Heap

Robin is an independent Animation Director and Lecturer in Animation at Staffordshire University in the UK. Robin is currently focused on developing new stop motion projects and guiding undergraduates in their animation studies. Making miniature worlds through a mix of hand-crafted models, cinematography and sprinkles of digital magic, is what drives Robin’s creative practice.

Robin je neodvisni režiser animacij in predavatelj animacije na Univerzi Staffordshire (Združeno kraljestvo). Trenutno se osredotoča na razvijanje novih projektov stop animacije in vodenje dodiplomskih študentk_ov pri njihovem študiju animacije. Izdelava miniaturnih svetov s kombinacijo ročno izdelanih modelov, kinematografije in nekaj kapljic digitalne magije je to, kar poganja njegovo kreativno prakso.
