StopTrik International Film Festival is dedicated to stop motion techniques of hand-made, spatial animation as puppet film, claymation, object or photography manipulation, animation of loose materials (such as salt, sand etc), pixilation, traditional cut-out and many more. The list of sub-genres could be complemented with such exceptional techniques as animation of lights, fire, yarns, threads. Artists' imagination is limitless and so we can be neither orthodox nor strict while defining the term "stop motion". The ultimate goal of this unique annual gathering is to admire and celebrate artistry of hand-made, spatial animation together with all the other drifters of the surreal, absurd or merry highways who are ready to pursue frame by frame illusion.

 An empty room with five people, sitting at a table that seats six. Their withered bodies adorned with lush fabrics and jewelry, they spend eternity playing with their food. A charged silence fills the air. When the fragile equilibrium in the group is broken by the boy’s constant pestering, the results are explosive.

Prazna soba, v njej miza za šest, za mizo pet ljudi. Njihova ovenela telesa so odeta v razkošna oblačila in nakit, celo večnost se igrajo s hrano. V zraku je napeta tišina. Ko je krhko ravnovesje v skupini porušeno z dečkovim nenehnim nadlegovanjem, so posledice eksplozivne.

Jasper Kuipers

Born in Eindhoven the Netherlands in 1985 as the child of two ceramists Jasper Kuipers was brought up with an overabundance of materials to play with. From an early age he became fascinated by clay and drawing; fascinations that persist to the present day. After graduating from the animation department at the art academy St Joost in Breda, Kuipers started his practice as freelance director | animator. From his studio space in Breda he has worked on a diverse range of commissioned projects spanning from educational films and music video’s to installations and video projections for theater. Besides his commissioned work he has continued to work on independent films in various traditional techniques like Claymation, drawn animation and stop-motion with puppets.

 Protoplasm is the living substance of cells. It is the liquid foundation of life, the inner organism with thoughts and feelings. Everything is pulsating, expanding and contracting. Sometimes, we expand and contract at the same time, creating a conflict that prevents the liquids from moving. Fear and anxiety take hold like paralysis.

 Protoplazma je živa snov v celicah. Je tekoča osnova življenja, notranji organizem z mislimi in občutki. Vse utripa, se širi in krči. Včasih se širimo in krčimo hkrati. S tem ustvarjamo konflikt, ki zaustavi pretok tekočine, nastopita ohromljajoči strah in tesnoba.

 REM: the stage of sleep which invokes dreams. The film attempts to depict these hypnagogic visions, which are presented without narration. Fragments of the unconscious overtake and dismantle one another, in the process obliterating the dream from memory


REM: faza spanja, v kateri nastopijo sanje. Film skuša prikazati te sanjske prizore, brez pripovedovanja. Drobci nezavednega prevzamejo in razkrinkajo drug drugega v procesu izbrisa sanj iz spomina.

 A film and virtual reality experience, first inspired by chapter from Roland Barthes' “A lover's discourse: Fragments”. Using stop motion organic characters and set design inspired by marine biology, the story consists of two separate philosophical ideas; the concept of “Assemblage” by Deleuze & Guattari, and the concept of “Plissement” by Merleau-Ponty.

 Film in izkušnja virtualne realnosti, ki ga je prvotno navdihnilo poglavje romana Rolanda Barthesa ''Fragmenti ljubezenskega diskurza''. V filmu so uporabljeni organski stop animacijski liki in scena oblikovana po navdihu morske biologije, zgodba pa je sestavljena iz dveh ločenih filozofskih idej  iz Deleuzejevega & Guattarijevega koncepta ''asemblaže'', ter Merleau-Pontyjevega koncepta ''gubanja''.

Originally from Taiwan, I began as a fine artist investigating realism in painting and drawing. My work has evolved into multimedia works examining the existence of matter and the tension between the perceived "surface layer" and an imagined "flowing underlying layer". I examine this tension in diverse subject matter utilizing collage physical everyday objects and organic textures.

How the black hole begins is a story about a dog – Rulon. Rulon seems to be a casual dog, but he is quite special. He is a dreamer. One day Rulon gets the possibility to fly. He decides to make his dreams come true and makes a space trip. In outer space he is surprised to meet titbits. Qualified as O!PLA 2018 people's favourite stop motion film.

''Kako nastane črna luknja'' je zgodba o psu, Rulonu. Rulon je na prvi pogled povsem navaden pes, a je v resnici precej poseben. Je sanjač. Nekega dne se Rulonu ponudi priložnost, da poleti. Odloči se uresničiti svoje sanje in se poda v vesolje. V vesolju presenečen naleti na poslastice. Kvalificiran za najljubši stop animacijski film festivala O!PLA 2018.

Karolina Gołębiowska

(born in 1990) comes from Wolin. In 2014 she finished artistic graphics in Academy of Art in Szczecin in the department of Visual Art. Prize winner of Marshal of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship for the best artistic diploma in 2014. At present she is a student in The Faculty of Painting and New Media at the Academy of Art in Szczecin. Laureate of distinction in the Szczecin European Film Festiwal in 2017. An animated musical with apocalyptic undertones. The story is divided into four episodes that takes place in a supermarket, a long term hotel, a call center and a hamburger restaurant. All of the settings are located in a modern, generic market place next to a large freeway.

Animirani muzikal z apokaliptičnimi podtoni. Zgodba je razdeljena na štiri epizode, ki se odvijajo v supermarketu, apartmaju, klicnem centru in restavraciji s hamburgerji. Prizorišča se nahajajo v moderni generični tržnici blizu velike avtoceste.

Niki Lindroth von Bahr

Niki Lindroth von Bahr, born in 1984, is an artist and animation director based in Stockholm. She got her master degree in fine art at the Royal Institute of Art in the spring of 2016. Her films Bath House (2014) and Tord and Tord (2010) has been screened at festivals around the word, such as Berlinale, Sundance, AFI and Annecy. Tord and Tord was also nominated as Best Shortfilm at Guldbaggegalan 2011.
