AD-HOC LAB. Show Me a Joke with Bibi Erjavec

Wednesday and Thursday, 24. and 25. 9. 2025 between 16.00 and 19.00, Vetrinj mansion, Outdoor

On September 24 and 25, an intergenerational stop animation workshop will take place between 16.00 and 19.00. We will meet at 16.00 in the courtyard of Vetrinjski dvor.

Do you have anxiety over starting things? Do you spend every project trapped in an endless decision-paralysis? Is the perfectionist that lives in your head telling you it's better to be perfect than done? Our two-day Ad Hoc Lab likely won't solve all these problems, but it might just be a bit more fun and spontaneous of an artistic endeavor than your day-to-day demons.

In the first part of the workshop, we will familiarise ourselves with the basics of stop motion animation, the particularities of its filming and with principles of rhythm and humor in ultra-short films. After this introduction, we will exchange our best and possibly worst jokes, record them and then use that audio to start planning our short animations.

The following day we will focus on filming, especially on techniques of object replacement animation and pixilation, animation using people, that can defeat even gravity. In the end, we’ll use augmented reality to prepare and exhibit our finished animations.

We are in for six intense hours of stop animation that won't require more equipment than a mobile phone and a good dose of creativity!

The workshop is free of charge. The number of places is limited. Each participant needs their own mobile phone with a working camera and a very short joke. Applications are being collected at mojca@filmfactory.si.
