ŠKM banda

The Beltinci-based band Štefan Kovač Marko Banda needs no lengthy introduction. They can show over twenty years of experience, five excellent albums and a fluid molding of their unique musical reality they call post-jazz. Their work is, amongst other things, influenced by ethnographically coloured soundscapes, however, the quartet from Prekmurje has recently at least in part returned to their roots and a more raw, rock-like sound milieu. They mainly play post-jazz but have also taken more aggressive approaches towards composing, a playful collage of guitar sounds and powerful sound barriers with more energy, life and dynamic turnarounds. Years of playing together make them able to communicate with each other almost telepathically, which is needed to immediately respond to the many tempo changes and mood swings.

ŠKM banda are Mitja Sušec – electric and acoustic guitar, ukulele; Iztok Koren – electric and 12-string acoustic guitar, banjo, kalimba; Jernej Koren – bass, percussions; Jernej Sobočan – drums, xylophone

PXLDOS

Marko Jaušovec creates his soundscapes with repetitive patterns he picked up and created during his travels through the diverse scenes of house electronica, big beat, breakbeat, garage, acid, drum & bass and many other sub-genres based on strong rhythms and low and melodic bass lines. He has upgraded his classic DJ routine to experimentation, which is reflected in picturesque transitions and the creation of atmospheres. He often incorporates classics of funk, soul and other non-electronic musical elements into his sets.
